Magination Press is the children’s book imprint of the American Psychological Association, a scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and around the world. Most of our books are written by mental health professionals or those who work closely children and teens. Our books help children understand their feelings, provide information about the topic or situation, and offer extensive practical coping strategies. In our picture books, a comprehensive Note to Parents is usually included to help provide parents with psychological background information to further guide parents, therapists, social workers, and teachers in using the book.
Who are we? Kristine Enderle directs Magination Press and acquires new children’s picture books, middle-grade chapter books, and teen mental health/self-help books and develops a few books here and there. Editors Sarah Fell and Katie Ten-Hagen manage new titles and shepherd books through editorial development, art direction, design, and production. Intern Vallen Driggers provides editorial and production assistance and expert critiques of manuscript submissions. Together we have loads of fun reading and evaluating submissions, acquiring new titles, collaborating with designers, authors, and illustrators, thinking up the next best things, and developing stellar books.
